Dr.W(王南) from the Tsinghua University. This book uses mathematical methods to analyze Chinese classical cities, in order to find the 'Order' of Chinese ancient urban design.
This book is divided into two volumes. The first volume is a collection of papers from the scholars studying cities with Dr.W as the core. And the second volume is pictures.
The tittle of the book"规矩方圆，天地之和" means that:
Ancient Chinese considered the sky as hemisphere and the land as rectangle, this consideration influenced the development of Chinese philosophy, and also reflected in the urban construction.
Today we use mathematics and modern methods to analysis composition proportion of ancient Chinese capitals, architectural complexes and single buildings, to find the design methods used by architects at that time.
